Gasture-based corrective feedback in cross-cultural contexts: how gesture shapes uptake and temporal processing across multi-country EFL contexts

This book presents an innovative approach to corrective feedback in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, based on the author's research conducted across diverse cultural contexts in Indonesia, Thailand, and Ukraine, with supporting data collected by his colleagues in those countries. This book demonstrates that effective feedback extends beyond traditional verbal correction, involving gesture, gaze, prosody, timing, and classroom interaction shaped by cultural context. The studies featured in this book have been published in an International Reputable Journal of Indonesia Journal of Applied Linguistics (JAL) indexed by Scopus (Q2). By integrating theories from Second Language Acquisition (SLA), sociocultural theory, and multimodal research, the book introduces the Multimodal-Contextual Corrective Feedback (MCCF) Framework.
